An evening of poetry from three Broadstone Books Pressmates: Sara Cahill Marron, Barbara Leff, and Jackie Berger. Broadstone Books, based in Kentucky, publishes writers from around the country, with a diverse range of voices sampled in this reading. Both Jackie (The Day You Miss Your Exit) and Barbara (And God Said...: A Brief History of Creation) are local Californians, while Sara is visiting from Washington, D.C. reading from her recently released book (Reasons for the Long Tu'm) as well as some new selections.
Sara Cahill Marron is a poet and student of the law. She is the author of Reasons for the Long T'um (Broadstone Books 2018) and her poems have recently appeared in Atlas + Alice, Gravitas, and OUT/CAST, with new work forthcoming in the Newtown Literary Review, Cordella, and FLARE: The Flagler Review this summer. Jacqueline Berger’s fourth book, The Day You Miss Your Exit, was published by Broadstone Books in 2018. Her poems have been featured on Garrison Keillor’s Writers Almanac. She teaches writing at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California and lives in San Francisco.
BARBARA LEFF, a recovering New Yorker, has lived in San Francisco for nearly 25 years. Barbara’s collection,AND GOD SAID . . . A Brief History of Creation, based on the Book of Genesis, was nominated for both the National Book Award and the National Jewish Book Award and was a finalist for the DaVinci Eye Award. A co-founder of the Caselli Street Poets, Barbara’s next collection, LUCK, a collaboration with artist David Maxim, will be available in May of 2019. Her work has appeared in Fourteen Hills, Faultline, Eden Waters Press among others.
