AT 40TH STREET NEW LIFE STOREFRONT (644 40TH ST)
The inaugural 3x will include artist Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo and poet Turner Capehart Canty!
3x is an ongoing series of micro-performances and presentations every Wednesday night at the Wolfman New Life Quarterly Bookstore (644 40th Street). Two or three artists will perform or present three roughly five minute sets at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30. 3x offers an experimental, serial space for audience and performer to break up the predictable dynamics of an evening of performance. Performers/presenters will include writers, visual artists, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, and practitioners of all sorts. Come for one "set" or stay for all three!
Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo is an artist, arts educator, activist, storyteller & curator who lives and works in Oakland, California. She received her BFA from California College of the Arts. Branfman-Verissimo has had solo exhibitions at Lago Projects, Oakland, E.M. Wolfman, Oakland and Bolivar Gallery, Los Angeles. She has been included in exhibitions and performances at Osaka Art University, Highways Performance space, Deli Gallery, Southern Exposure, SFMOMA, Kala Art Institute, and the Berkeley Art Museum. She is the founder and lead curator at Nook Gallery, a gallery she started in her home kitchen.
Turner Capehart Canty is a writer and musician living in Oakland. He is the co-curator of Sponge, a local reading and talk series. Currently Turner is working to complete of a new untitled collection of songs, and a new chapbook of poetry entitled I Want to Miss Them.
